The questions a note cannot answer

Which section is worth the marks. What the examiner actually wanted. Whether the syllabus changed this year. None of that is written down anywhere, and all of it is known by somebody a year ahead of you.

Groups, by course and by college

Posting into the right group is the difference between an answer and silence. Join the ones for what you are actually studying and the rest of the site gets quieter.

Votes decide, not seniority

Anyone signed in can answer and anyone can vote. What rises is what other students found useful — which beats ranking by who has been here longest.

Answering

A short, correct answer is worth more than a clever one

Most people posting are stuck, close to an exam, and writing in their second or third language. Three sentences typed at midnight for one confused person is one of the most useful things on this site.

Answer the question that was asked, not the one you wish had been.
Nepali or English — whichever you think more clearly in.
Answers count as contributions on the leaderboard.

What is not allowed

Anything that is not about studying

Harassment, spam, pirated textbooks, and — the one that ends an account rather than earning a warning — exam material that has not been sat yet.

Moderation

When a post goes, you are told why

Most removals are copyright or somebody’s personal details, not bad behaviour. You are told what was removed and which rule it broke, and you can ask for it to be looked at again.

On your phone

Follow a thread without keeping a tab open

The same account on both. Ask on the laptop, read the answer on the bus — which is usually where the question occurred to you anyway.

Who can post in the community?

Anyone with a free account. Reading is open to everyone, including people who are not signed in.

What is not allowed?

Anything that is not about studying: harassment, spam, leaked papers and pirated textbooks. The community guidelines cover it in full, and moderators remove what breaks them.
