At a glance
A plain-language summary. The numbered clauses below are what legally applies.
- Most people posting are stuck, close to an exam, and writing in a second language. Answer accordingly.
- Disagree with the answer, never with the person.
- No harassment, no discrimination, no sexual content, no threats.
- Do not do to a junior what you would not accept from a senior.
- Moderators are volunteers and users. Abusing them is itself a breach.
- No tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Report or block anyone; we act within 24 hours.
1. No tolerance, and what you can do about it
- 1.1
There is no tolerance on WeGrowNepal for objectionable content or for abusive users. Sexual content, nudity, graphic violence, hate speech, harassment, threats, and anything sexualising a minor are removed on sight and end the account that posted them.
- 1.2
Every note, post, comment and profile carries a report control. Use it. A report reaches a moderation queue that is read every day; you do not need to know which rule was broken.
- 1.3
Every account can be blocked. A block takes their notes, posts and comments out of everything you see straight away, stops them contacting you, and tells our moderators — so blocking is both a setting for you and a signal to us.
- 1.4
We act on reports of objectionable content within 24 hours: the content comes down, and where the breach warrants it the account goes with it.
- 1.5
Content reported by enough separate people is hidden automatically, before a moderator has read it, and stays hidden until one has.
2. Who this applies to and where
- 2.1
This Code applies to every person using the Service, including readers, contributors, commenters, group moderators and staff.
- 2.2
It applies in posts, comments, answers, votes, group names and descriptions, note titles and descriptions, profile fields and any message sent through the Service.
- 2.3
It applies to conduct off the Service where that conduct targets a member of this community and is connected to their participation in it.
Why this is here
Following someone from a study group to another platform in order to harass them there is the same behaviour, and a jurisdictional line does not make it acceptable.
- 2.4
It applies equally regardless of a person's standing, contribution count or leaderboard position.
- 2.5
Ignorance of this Code is not a defence to a breach of it.
3. The standard expected
- 3.1
Assume the person asking is doing their best with the time and resources they have.
- 3.2
Answer the question that was asked, rather than the question you would prefer to answer.
- 3.3
Be accurate. If you are unsure, say so rather than guessing with confidence.
- 3.4
Be brief. A short correct answer helps more than a long one before an examination.
- 3.5
Write in whichever of Nepali or English you think more clearly in. Neither is preferred and neither is corrected.
- 3.6
Correct a mistake plainly, without commentary on the person who made it.
- 3.7
Credit the source of anything you did not work out yourself.
- 3.8
Leave a thread better than you found it, or leave it alone.
4. Harassment and abuse
- 4.1
Do not insult, demean, mock or belittle any person.
- 4.2
Do not threaten any person with violence, exposure, academic harm or legal action taken in bad faith.
- 4.3
Do not follow a person from thread to thread in order to criticise or undermine them.
- 4.4
Do not organise or encourage others to target a person, a group or an institution.
- 4.5
Do not continue to contact a person who has asked you to stop.
- 4.6
Do not publish private correspondence without the consent of the other party.
- 4.7
Do not publish a person's personal information, whether or not it is available elsewhere.
- 4.8
Do not create an account for the purpose of evading a block or continuing harassment.
5. Discrimination
- 5.1
Do not attack or exclude any person on the basis of caste, ethnicity or indigenous identity.
- 5.2
Do not attack or exclude any person on the basis of religion or the absence of one.
- 5.3
Do not attack or exclude any person on the basis of language, dialect, accent or region of origin.
- 5.4
Do not attack or exclude any person on the basis of gender, gender identity or sexual orientation.
- 5.5
Do not attack or exclude any person on the basis of disability, health condition or neurodivergence.
- 5.6
Do not attack or exclude any person on the basis of economic background, the school they attend, or the medium they were taught in.
Why this is here
Included specifically because it is the form of contempt this community is most likely to produce, and the one most likely to stop somebody asking a question at all.
- 5.7
Do not use slurs, whether directed at a person or used generally.
- 5.8
Do not defend discriminatory conduct as a joke, as tradition, or as free speech.
6. Sexual content and conduct
- 6.1
Do not post sexual or sexually suggestive content.
- 6.2
Do not direct sexual comments, propositions or imagery at any person.
- 6.3
Do not use the Service to solicit romantic or sexual contact.
- 6.4
Do not post or request intimate images of any person.
- 6.5
Any sexualised interaction with a person you know or suspect to be under 18 results in immediate closure and a report to the authorities.
Why this is here
There is no warning stage, no appeal window before action, and no discretion applied to this clause.
- 6.6
This is a platform used by school students. Conduct acceptable between consenting adults elsewhere is not acceptable here.
7. Honesty
- 7.1
Do not impersonate another person, a teacher, a moderator, an institution or an examination body.
- 7.2
Do not claim qualifications, positions or results you do not hold.
- 7.3
Do not present another person's work as your own.
- 7.4
Do not post deliberately wrong answers.
- 7.5
Do not manipulate votes, downloads or rankings, whether by additional accounts, coordination or automation.
- 7.6
Do not make a report you know to be unfounded in order to have a rival's material removed.
- 7.7
Do not misrepresent what a note contains in order to attract downloads.
8. Groups and moderation
- 8.1
Group moderators are users who volunteer. They are not employees and are not obliged to respond at any particular time.
- 8.2
Moderators may remove content and restrict participation within their group in accordance with this Code.
- 8.3
Moderators may not use their position to settle personal disputes, promote a business, or advantage themselves in rankings.
- 8.4
A decision by a group moderator may be escalated to us under the Grievance and Complaints Policy.
- 8.5
Abusing, threatening or attempting to expose a moderator is a breach of this Code and is treated as seriously as abusing any other user.
- 8.6
We may remove a moderator who breaches this Code or who consistently fails to apply it.
9. If something goes wrong
- 9.1
Report conduct that breaches this Code to abuse@lacspace.com, or using the report control on the content.
- 9.2
Include a link. A report without one takes far longer to act on and may not be actionable at all.
- 9.3
We do not disclose the identity of a reporter to the person reported.
- 9.4
We do not retaliate against a person for making a report in good faith, and retaliation by another user is itself a breach.
- 9.5
If you are the subject of a report, you will be told what was reported and given an opportunity to respond, except where immediate action is required for safety.
- 9.6
If you are in immediate danger, contact the Nepal Police on 100 rather than waiting for a response from us.
Why this is here
A platform report is not an emergency service and should never be relied on as one.
10. Consequences
- 10.1
Consequences are set out in full in the Enforcement, Warnings and Legal Action Policy.
- 10.2
A first minor breach ordinarily results in removal of the content and a written explanation.
- 10.3
A repeated or serious breach results in restriction of features, suspension, or closure of the account.
- 10.4
Breaches involving child safety, credible threats of violence, or unreleased examination material result in immediate closure without warning.
- 10.5
We may report conduct to the police, to an educational institution or to an examination authority where it is appropriate to do so.
- 10.6
Every enforcement decision may be appealed under the Grievance and Complaints Policy.
