Why it exists

Credit is the only thing a contributor is paid in

Nobody here is paid, and nothing is bought. Your name staying on what you shared is the entire compensation, so it is worth putting somewhere people can see it.

What it costs you

Giving a note away does not take it from you

This is the unusual economics of notes: the copy you hand over does not leave your side. You lose nothing, and someone sitting the same paper next year gains a week.

What it adds up to

Every place on this board is a bigger library

The list is not decoration. Everything on the site arrived because somebody on it decided a stranger should not have to start from nothing.

Useful, not loud

One note people actually use beats ten nobody opens

Because use counts as well as volume, uploading everything in your downloads folder does not work. The material students come back to is what moves you up.

Answering a question counts as contributing

Some of the most useful things on the site are three sentences long and were typed at midnight for one confused person. Those count.

By what you have contributed and how much use it has had — notes shared, reads and downloads on them, and community answers. Not by how often you visit.

Why does the leaderboard matter?

Credit is the only thing a contributor is paid in. This is where it is visible.
