Contributor Licence Agreement

This agreement takes effect each time you submit content to the Service and governs what we may do with that content.

It forms part of the Terms of Use and is to be read with the Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy.

"Contribution" means any note, document, image, question, answer, comment or other material you submit.

A separate licence arises for each Contribution, on the terms in force when it is submitted.

Nothing in this agreement obliges us to publish, retain or continue to publish any Contribution.

You retain full ownership of the copyright in your Contribution.

You retain the right to publish the same Contribution elsewhere, on any terms, at any time, without telling us.

You retain the right to be identified as its author, and we display your name with it.

You retain the right to object to derogatory treatment of your work.

You retain the right to withdraw the Contribution from the Service.

You retain every right not expressly granted below.

You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, back up, reproduce, reformat, display, transmit and distribute the Contribution through the Service.

The licence includes the right to make technical copies necessary to operate the Service, including caching, replication across servers, thumbnails, previews and search indexes.

The licence includes the right to convert the Contribution into other formats where necessary for display or download, including generating a cover image or a text preview.

The licence includes the right to display the Contribution in the mobile application and to permit offline retention on a user's device.

The licence includes the right to display an extract, a title or a thumbnail of the Contribution in listings, search results, feeds and social previews.

The licence includes the right to show the Contribution in material promoting the Service, provided your attribution is preserved.

The licence is royalty-free. Contributors are not paid, and the Service earns no revenue from Contributions.

The licence is sub-licensable only to our hosting and content-delivery providers, and only to the extent necessary to deliver the Contribution to users.

We will not sell your Contribution.

We will not license your Contribution to a third party for that party's own commercial exploitation.

We will not place your Contribution behind a paywall or use it as a paid product.

We will not use your Contribution to train, fine-tune or evaluate a machine learning model, and we will not permit a third party to do so, without your separate express consent.

We will not remove your name from your Contribution while it is published.

We will not materially alter the substance of your Contribution. Formatting, compression and metadata changes necessary for display are permitted.

We will not use your name or image to endorse anything beyond identifying you as the author of your Contribution.

We will not assert any ownership right over your Contribution.

You warrant that the Contribution is your own original work, or that you hold all rights necessary to submit it and to grant this licence.

You warrant that the Contribution does not infringe any third party's copyright, trademark, moral rights, confidence or privacy.

You warrant that the Contribution contains no personal information about another person that you are not entitled to publish.

You warrant that the Contribution contains no unreleased examination material.

You warrant that the Contribution contains no malware and no material that is unlawful in Nepal.

You warrant that publishing the Contribution does not breach any obligation you owe to your institution, employer or any other person.

You agree to indemnify us against any claim arising from a breach of these warranties.

These warranties are given afresh on each submission.

You may withdraw a Contribution at any time from your dashboard, or by asking us.

On withdrawal we cease publishing the Contribution and remove it from the Service within seven days.

The licence ends for future use on withdrawal, save for the limited survivals in this section.

Copies already downloaded by other users are outside our control and cannot be recalled.

Copies held in backups persist until those backups expire in the ordinary cycle, and are not restored to the Service.

We may retain a copy where required by law, or where it is the subject of a live complaint, investigation or legal claim.

Where a Contribution has been quoted or built upon by another user, the quoting material is not automatically removed.

Withdrawal does not entitle you to any payment or compensation.

We display the name on your account as the author of your Contribution.

If you change your display name, the attribution changes with it.

You may ask for a Contribution to be published under a pseudonym, and we will accommodate that where practical.

If you close your account, you may choose whether Contributions are withdrawn or remain published with your attribution, as set out in the Data Retention and Deletion Policy.

We do not publish your email address, telephone number or any account detail alongside your Contribution.

If we materially change this agreement, the change applies only to Contributions submitted after it takes effect. Existing Contributions remain governed by the version in force when they were submitted.

The version and date under which each Contribution was submitted are recorded against it.

If any provision of this agreement is unenforceable, it is severed and the remainder continues.

This agreement is governed by the laws of Nepal.
