The site gained an illustration system. The rule it is built on is stated in the code and is the reason it works: if a drawing could sit above any other heading without looking wrong, it is doing nothing and should not be there. Each one states its section’s argument — a note travelling without leaving its author, a better answer rising past a weaker one.
They are drawn from a shared set of parts, so seven on one page read as one hand rather than seven clip-art downloads, and their colour comes from brand tokens so they follow the theme rather than fighting it. Every one runs three layers at once: the action the section is about, what responds to it, and something slow and ambient so the frame is never completely still.
Nothing plays once. An entrance animation that runs and stops is dead for every visitor who arrives after the first four seconds, which is most of them. And every animated part rests in its resolved state, so a reader who has asked their device to reduce motion sees the finished drawing rather than an empty frame.
They also do not run when nobody is looking at them: animation is gated on the illustration scrolling into view, because seven looping animations running forever is real battery on the mid-range Android most of these students are holding.
The same release brought a real header and theme switch, the brand palette, and a generated social card for every static page.
