The About page is where somebody goes when they are deciding whether to trust a platform with their coursework, and ours was answering a different question — it described ambition rather than substance, and several of the specifics in it were not checkable.
It was rewritten around three things a reader actually wants: what this is, how it is paid for, and what we will not do. The section on funding exists because a free platform for students invites an obvious and correct question about where the money comes from, and refusing to answer it is its own answer.
Two claims came out. The structured data had been asserting that we hold two social media accounts, neither of which exists — a machine-readable claim to an identity we do not have, which is the kind of thing that damages a domain rather than helping it. And the site had been describing 295 accounts as "contributors" when only six had ever uploaded anything; those are now counted separately, as members and contributors, because the two words mean different things and only one of them was true.
That last change made a public number smaller. It was the right change.
