A student platform that lets anybody post a link is a distribution channel for whoever wants one. Links in community posts are now judged before the post carries them, and the panel shows the verdict beside the post so a moderator sees what a link is rather than having to open it to find out.
One note in the library was a phishing attempt and has been taken out of the index. It is worth being direct about that: it was there, somebody found it, and the mechanism that let it sit in a study library is the same one this release closed.
Hiding a subject now hides it. It had been possible to hide a subject in the panel and still have its pages served, which is the worst possible version of a moderation control — it reports success and changes nothing, so the person who used it believes the problem is dealt with.
Alongside that, rate limiting now counts a request against the person making it rather than against a shared address, so one heavy user can no longer exhaust the allowance for everybody behind the same connection — which, on a college network, is an entire campus.
